Don't know if this is part of your plan but it would look great with artificial lights too (street lights, lights from the buildings, etc)
One thing I would definitely try is to make more of a city centre. Your buildings are too evenly spaced out and sized. Maybe making a grouping of tall buildings around the "sun" and then smaller, more dilapidated buildings lit by artificial light around the city centre.
Just a thought.
